They have an abundant, slightly basophilic protoplasm, accumulated on one side of the excentrically located, usually slightly folded and indented, nucleus; the quantity of chromatin is smaller than in the nucleus of the lymphocytes, and the nucleus therefore stains lighter than in the latter.
