Continental Airlines signed a five-year, $258 million contract with the US Postal Service to carry priority, first class and express mail within the US and Puerto Rico. A message delivered by express mail carries much more urgency and importance than a letter delivered by regular mail. Once ballots are prepared for mailing, local post offices will mail the initial batch of ballots via overnight Express Mail to the three military gateways, San Francisco, Miami and New York, about 30 to 45 days prior to Election Day. |
