Demand for food at the North Hollywood-based food bank has tripled among its network of 15 San Fernando Valley pantries, while canned donations have dropped precipitously since the tsunami devastated Southeast Asia on Dec.
BOSTON -- The Greater Boston Food Bank announced today it distributed a total of 35,482 turkeys this holiday season, making this its most successful turkey drive ever and exceeding last year's total by 18%.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank larder, stripped early this winter by a soaring demand for emergency food, is much fatter because of corporate food giveaways, its officials said.
