Central Queensland University (CQU) has been working with the Chilean Ministry of Health for the past two years and formalised an agreement last month to help the South American country with e-health initiatives including electronic health records, telemedicine, web-based medical technologies and educational programs.
The conversations during such mundane activities tend to be natural and expressive, and YSAS practitioners often find that they receive and respond to disclosures or relevant personal information from young people, which they would not receive in more formalised settings.
The sketches represent the three discrete systems that would become the essential organisational model for the project, as illustrated in the more formalised diagram later in the process (fig c): the natural and constructed surface of the site (Mat), the interconnected volumes housing the programmatic requirements of the academies (Barscape), and the volumes housing the communal programmes shared by the school and the greater community (Towers).
