Nella prima scena del primo atto l'autore crea una sorta di controprologo, una premessa di stampo mitologico in cui Nemesi scatena le sue Furie infernali contro la corte di Sulmone: Furie: Ne tanto fuoco mai fulmine ardente porto seco dal ciel, ne Borea od Euro il mar tranquillo sottosopra volse con tanta forza, quanto in questa corte porrem furore e come muteremo quanto in lei e di lieto in doglia e 'n pianto.
