The predominant gangue mineral in ore shoots is manganiferous siderite. Two major breccia zones of significance have been identified in the limestone host rock, which are associated with calcite-gypsum-quartz gangue minerals and important amounts of associated silver. Until the middle of the 20th century, economic geology was basically empirical, as evidenced by haphazard mining discoveries and perplexed musings on the oddity of sufide minerals in silicate gangue. |
