One hundred years lie between the first description of the genus Pelargonium and its sub-division into different species to today's taxonomically recognised species names.
Keywords: Pelargonium sidoides; Pelargonium reniforme; EPs[R] 7630; Coumarins; Phenols Introduction The genus Pelargonium (Geraniaceae) comprises approximately 270 distinct species of perennial small shrubs of which about 80% occur in southern Africa with the centre of diversity in the Cape Province (Van der Walt and Vorster, 1988).
