Some of the giant silk moths of North America are taking a beating because an early 20th-century attempt to control another insect went bad, researchers in Massachusetts suggest.
Cecropins are naturally occurring peptides found in the immune system of the giant silk moth, Hylaphora Cecropia.
Cytoporins are synthetic "designer" peptides (small proteins) derived primarily from compounds found in the immune defense system of the giant silk moth, Hyalophora cecropia.
