A major study published in 2000 found glyburide worked well in pregnant women and did not cross the placenta, so it had no obvious ill effects on the baby. Last year, the California Health Department (one of the few government agencies that regularly tests supplements) found supplements that contained the diabetes drugs glyburide and phenformin. Hahn said there were indications they had been injected with the drug Glyburide, which lowers blood-sugar levels but can be legally prescribed only by physicians. |
