This indeed proves the desire of Turkmenistan for good-neighbourliness, stability and development in the region. Annan also stressed that the parties must address not only the manifestations but also the causes of violence, working together for a future of peace, cooperation and good-neighbourliness. President Ion Iliescu supported the process of "integration at the continental level", through a policy of good-neighbourliness and regional cooperation projects--particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, the Black Sea area and the Danube basin--which should "accelerate the integration" of the countries of those regions into the structures of the European Union, NATO, the Western European Union and the Council of Europe. |
