greenschist  (grnshst)
A green, schistose metamorphic rock that gets its color from the presence of chlorite, epidote, or actinolite. Greenschist forms under conditions of low temperature and low pressure.

The supracrustal rocks are generally metamorphosed to amphibolite facies, less commonly to granulite facies, and rarely to greenschist facies.
The stratigraphic sequence is a biotite-rich turbidite metamorphosed to upper greenschist facies.
