greenschist  (grnshst)
A green, schistose metamorphic rock that gets its color from the presence of chlorite, epidote, or actinolite. Greenschist forms under conditions of low temperature and low pressure.

These rocks have all been metamorphosed to greenschist facies and most are intensely foliated.
The hydrothermal alteration of the samples varies from literally fresh rocks to true greenschist facies rocks.
It contains terrigenous sedimentary rocks, mafic to ultramafic volcanic rocks and plutonic rocks metamorphosed from the greenschist facies to the lower amphibolite facies.
