(Engineering / Aeronautics) the projection of readings from instruments onto a windscreen, enabling an aircraft pilot or car driver to see them without looking down

A display of flight, navigation, attack, or other information superimposed upon the pilot's forward field of view. Also called HUD. See also flight; horizontal situation display.
