heat death
The eventual dispersion of all of the energy within a physical system to a completely uniform distribution of heat energy, that is, to maximum entropy. Heat death for all macroscopic physical systems, including the universe, is predicted by the Second Law of Thermodynamics. See more at entropythermodynamics

But until the universe falls into some sort of gravy-like entropic heat death, things outside of our control will continue to change, so there isn't a whole lot of choice--assuming we want to avoid eternal broasting.
