The other important contribution of this volume is to argue that the idea of family needs to be historicized and understood within an embedded set of local practices.
At a time when the photography of sculpture in general is being problematized and historicized (Frizot & Paini 1993; Johnson 1998), it behooves the field to think analytically about the implications of various photographic strategies in its publications.
