Following an ordinary hitchhiker with two semesters of college Spanish to his name into Guatemala, WMD Machete takes a dark turn when the traveler uncovers a terrible secret that implicates his family in terrible machinations of murder and slavery. Another unique gift is Christopher the hitchhiker, a cutout wooden figure of a hitchhiker with a note on its chest asking motorists to carry it to the White House. It's a road movie blissfully free of larcenous hitchhikers or other cliches that nevertheless keeps piling on the absurdities--each emerging organically from its cast of characters. |
