The peculiar balancing acts of some hoodoos occur because the cap rock is dolomite, a form of limestone reinforced by magnesium.
It's similar geologically to Bryce Canyon, but doesn't have as many hoodoos - rock pinnacles - as Bryce, although some say the formations are more varied in color.
Okay, so this time Hannah has me hold the rock while she hoodoos up a storm.
