Because both illocutions and perlocutions are rule-based forms of language, and as noted above, their success or failure is entirely dependent on mutual conventions, the use of performative language can be interpreted as an indicator of the rule-systems in which they operate.
The third class consists of interpretative and associative elements, such as illocutions associated with the imaginary speech event, references to emotions and feelings, or memories.
