A laboratory procedure, such as Western blot analysis, in which proteins that have been separated by electrophoresis are transferred onto nitrocellulose sheets and are identified by their reaction with labeled antibodies.

Immunoblots were visualized using SuperSignal chemiluminescent substrate (Pierce, Rockford, IL).
Used with biotin-labeled antibodies in the immunoblot analyses, the new hybrid material can detect proteins with high sensitivity.
Earlier this week, USDA's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) recommended that all three of these samples be subjected to a second internationally recognized confirmatory test, the OIE-recognized SAF immunoblot test, often referred to as the Western blot test.
