Northwest Airlines said it will not renew interline agreements with approximately 50 carriers that do not have plans to offer interline e-ticketing when the accords expire on Jan.
American Airlines and Panama's Copa Airlines now offer interline e-ticketing services, allowing passengers to rebook and transfer tickets between the carriers electronically.
They form the first two characters of the flight number and are used to identify an airline for all commercial purposes, including reservations, schedules/timetables, tickets, tariffs, air waybills and interline telecommunications.
