| Digestive-system effects (including diarrhea, vomiting, intestinal hemorrhage, and liver effects such as necrosis and fibrosis) are associated with aflatoxin; caustic effects on mucous membranes are associated with T-2 toxin; and anorexia is associated with vomitoxin. The study revealed that participants who walked, gardened, or engaged in some other activity at least three times a week slashed their risk of developing a serious intestinal hemorrhage by about 40 percent compared with their less-active peers. More recently, it has been used effectively in controlling excessive hemorrhage in patients undergoing cardiac surgery, liver transplantation, intestinal hemorrhage and necrotizing pancreatitis. |
