| Whether because of job insecurity, a sense of irreplaceability or a desire to establish a work ethic that can match those found anywhere else in the world, Americans seem to increasingly have abandoned the two-week (and often the one-week) summer vacation. DUE TO THE IRREPLACEABILITY OF MATERIALS as well as the innumerable variations in physical condition and storage needs, special collections present many challenges to preservation and conservation professionals. Although evidence indicates that excessive willingness to help and perceptions of irreplaceability will most likely be detrimental to the practicing health care professional, these behaviors may be a strongly socialized and highly valued characteristic of the physical therapy profession. |
