| I now delight in imagining Fred and Ginger performing "Never Gonna Dance," their brilliant, melancholy dance from Swing Time, naked as jaybirds. Mary and Jaybird are married and have two children. The book is well written despite a couple Clan of the Cave Bear-type moments (Mary's saved from freezing to death when her native friend, Jaybird, crawls in bed with her to warm her naked body--drumbeats are heard and by morning they're husband and wife). |
