To commemorate the Oktoberfest taking place in Cincinnati that weekend, attendees (Patricia Dyer Tuley and Paul Stewart, pictured far right) played the "Chicken Dance" on kazoos, while staff members demonstrated the famous dance. Creative recruitment strategies for foster and adoptive parents also take place in such unlikely places as minor league baseball games, as occurs in Charleston, South Carolina, where the public child welfare agency distributes kazoos and information to everyone attending the game. Normally dignified people, they cheer in many languages, scream, pound backs, play kazoos, and blow eardrum-splitting air horns. |
