A typical three-hour Weeks set takes in mostly originals - strong, soulful rootsy rock numbers that can make someone with a long memory and stamps in their passport fondly recall British pub-rock outfits like Ducks Deluxe, the Kursaal Flyers and Bees Make Honey. Another strong Iberian tradition is the impervious, inscrutable exterior, which here finds contemporary expression in a skin of milkily translucent horizontal glass panels that wraps, seals and homogenises the exterior (shades of the Kursaal concert hall in San Sebastian, AR May 2000). Extending another of the exhibition's major themes, Jan De Cock's beautiful intervention at the Ondartxo boatyard and Carlos Bunga's project in Rafael Moneo's Kursaal continue art's fruitful crossover with architecture. |
