| ABSTRACT: Excluding laryngeal papillomas, neoplasms of the hypopharynx rarely cause sudden asphyxial death in adults. A large laryngeal papilloma that had originated in the left false vocal fold was noted. An extensive review of the literature indicated that the principal predisposing factor for laryngeal carcinoma is irradiation of benign head and neck lesions, particularly juvenile laryngeal papillomas. |
