The Army developed the ground/vehicular laser locator designator (G/VLLD) that uses a high-powered laser designator that is not eye-safe, is bulky and is quite heavy.
The $79 million Army contract is for 300 Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder systems, mainly used in conjunction with laserguided, GPS-guided and conventional munitions.
So I said, let's put a laser designator on the Predator UAV.
