NATTERJACK TOAD: During The Open last year at the Royal Birkdale, golfers and visitors were asked to keep their eyes out for the slimy amphibians which were moved to safety by the course manager if they were in danger of being harmed.
Because the area is a ecologically sensitive, during construction species such as the natterjack toad were looked after with the help of the Flintshire's Countryside Services.
I remember my pleasure in seeing a natterjack toad, which is now an endangered species.
