operational readiness

The capability of a unit/formation, ship, weapon system, or equipment to perform the missions or functions for which it is organized or designed. May be used in a general sense or to express a level or degree of readiness. Also called OR. See also combat readiness.

During his visit to Naval bases at Ormara, Pasni and Gwadar, Chief of the Naval Staff was given detailed briefings on conduct of the exercise and operational readiness of these units.
He emphasized that our deterrence is a function of operational readiness which can not be optimized following a 'stove pipe' approach of mutually exclusive capacities of the three Services but can only be derived through a matrix approach combining conceptual and material components of all forces for an integrated and synergized response to both conventional and unconventional threats, including the asymmetric challenges confronting the country.
The Air Chief, who is due to demit office on May 31, expressed satisfaction with the operational readiness of the units and stressed upon the need for continued improvement in the quality of life of the personnel posted at such high altitudes.
