According to a report in ABC Science, scientists say that Fruitadens haagarorum is the world's smallest known ornithischian dinosaur, a group that included horned, duck-billed and armored dinosaurs, along with many other diverse species.
It means that feathers may have evolved, or developed over a long period of time, from structures on an ancestor of both saurichian and ornithischian dinosaurs.
Among ornithischian dinosaurs, which weren't closely related to birds or their ancestors, genome sizes averaged about 2.
