The NPSG included the following measurements: * Chest and abdominal wall movement by respiratory impedance or inductance plethysmography * Heart rate by ECG * Airflow with sidestream end-tidal carbon dioxide levels * Pulse oximetric saturation (SpO2) and waveform bilateral electrooculogram * Eight-channel EEG * Chin and anterior tibial EMG * Body position All measurements were digitized and tracheal sound was monitored with a microphone sensor.
Breathing pattern did not change after the MI-E applications and pulse oximetric saturation remained stable within normal values, but the mean end-tidal carbon dioxide pressure decreased significantly.
