(Mathematics) the result obtained when a number is multiplied by one digit of a multiplier

partial product
A product formed by multiplying the multiplicand by one digit of the multiplier when the multiplier has more than one digit. Partial products are used as intermediate steps in calculating larger products. For example, the product of 67 and 12 can be calculated as the sum of two partial products, 134 (67 × 2) + 670 (67 × 10), or 804.
