The planning and pre-positioning of aircraft, ships, or ground forces and facilities before an operation to provide search and rescue (SAR) or combat search and rescue (CSAR) assistance if needed. The planning of precautionary SAR or CSAR is usually done by plans personnel with SAR or CSAR expertise and background on an operations staff, a joint search and rescue center, or a rescue coordination center.
