The Swiss retailer is investing 100 million Swiss francs of its own cash into the price-cutting campaign this year, Coop Chief Executive Officer Hansueli Loosli said.
But the Scottish Licensed Trade Association slammed the pub chains and supermarkets taking part in aggressive booze price-cutting for being "totally irresponsible" and "money grabbing".
The figures will increase pressure on the government to curb irresponsible price-cutting, blamed for fuelling Britain's binge culture, as part of a planned review of alcohol prices due to be published next month.
