By around 1860 it was traditional to cast a female to play the principal boy and the pantomime dame to be played by a man.
During the 1960s to 1970s she was one of pantomime's leading principal boys and she appeared with Norman Wisdom at the London Palladium in one of the longest ever run pantos at the theatre.
The society's principal boy Louise Leggett is Fairy Lilac; their regular Fairy Kirsty Turner is principal girl, Princess Rose with recent member Jake Denton making a handsome Prince Alexis, with his friend Stephen Waind playingMuddles the local fall guy.
