Mr Jenkins presented the book Rainbow Bird to the charity Book Aid International, which works in 18 countries.
The author has brought together five beautifully illustrated folktales about Australian pelicans, Norwegian crows, Sri Lankan quail, an African rainbow bird, and Chinese swans.
One of the authors who was invited along by Middlesbrough Council's Library Service was Eric Maddern, pictured, who has written books including Earth Story, Rainbow Bird and Curious Clownfish.
