Tucker purchased the west parcel of the property earlier this year and has since worked with community leaders and local groups to create a redevelopment plan that will generate ratables for the Borough of Fort Lee and offer opportunities to live, work, dine and shop in an attractive downtown setting.
This is because active older adults don't place demands on municipal services such as the schools; traffic is often generated in off hours; and many towns want to develop new projects that generate ratables (property capable of being assessed and taxed).
The concept has been very popular in other parts of the country with governments, who like the tax ratables without any impact on schools, and with the growing number of people over 55, who are ready to move out of the large home where they raised their kids.
