Scientists believe the resonating chambers on the heads of some types of duck-billed dinosaurs were used to bellow out sounds similar to some cross of a bassoon, trumpet and a fog horn -- possibly to alert others of their presence.
Later, it was discovered that the resonating chamber of the instrument could be manipulated to give differences in pitch.
