Instead of confronting this senseless suffering, and with it, the suffering sense, the film sacralises the denuded tortured body exposed to cinematic voyeurism.
Their preoccupation with magic stones, ley lines and forms of energy said to be immanent in earth, hills, trees and other points of the natural landscape all indicate a felt need to sacralise landscape, albeit on terms not acceptable to orthodox Christians.
It is about women's access to religious knowledge and to sacred space in a male-centred environment that marginalises women's access to both, and about ways women strive for agency and sacralise their own space in an effort to experience community and to heal and be healed; it is about women's ways of getting God to hear them.
