1944 to begin sea duty on the USS Boles (DD755) which was then relocated to the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.
Arriving on board an LPD as a chief machinist's mate in charge of the forward main-machinery room, I was happy to be back on sea duty.
His sea duty was aboard the Tribal class destroyer HMCS Haida, escorting Murmansk convoys, fighting running battles with German E-boats in the English Channel, and escorting troop convoys to France for D-Day.
