The lavenders, sages, sea hollies, several to most of the Nepetas (catmints), Artemisias, and, naturally, the Achilleas-like Coronation Gold are all easy to maintain.
Native wild coastal plants such as the sea hollies (Eryngium), seakale (Crambe) and mallow have many garden- worthy relatives.
If you visit your local garden centre, keep an eye out for some of my other favourites including many of the verbascums, Gazanias (for summer use), the autumn-flowering herbaceous sedums, lamb's ears, many sages and thymes, the weeping pear (Pyrus salicifolia) and the silvery-blue bracted sea hollies (eryngiums).
