This has resulted in them buying a property with a sitting tenant who has rights to stay there for a long time.
In the UK, I believe that there are laws to protect sitting tenants - a landlord is bound by a contract and can be prevented from selling a property without protecting the rights of his tenant.
The rules will not apply to lease renewals by sitting tenants.
