I had assumed, wrongly, that Wine People were the sort of unbearable snoots who are always using the term "per se" for no discernable reason and who tend to describe wine in terms best applied to right-wing radio hosts ("I found it to be coarse, fleshy and quite bitter,") but in person they appear almost normal.
