Good spring runoffs are assured in most of the state's rivers, thanks to the series of late March storms that boosted snowpacks throughout the region.
Running's model indicates tht if carbon dioxide doubles over the next century, western mountain snowpacks -- which water lower-elevation areas as they melt -- will most likely thaw 60 to 80 days earlier in the spring than they do now.
If the current storms were dumping fresh snow on deep snowpacks, it would stick around for a while.
