Instead of opting for home-grown greats such as Don Bradman or Shane Warne, Rudd nominated West Indian all-rounder Garfield Sobers when challenged to name his all-time favourite sports star.
Sir Garfield Sobers and Herschelle Gibbs met at a dinner at the Swalec Stadiumto commemorate the 40th anniversary of the great West Indian cricketer becoming the first batsman in first-class history to hit six sixes in an over, while playing for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan at Swansea.
