Byline: The Register-Guard CRESWELL - Oregon State University senior Paul Peterson beat defending open division champion Andrew Vijarro from the University of Oregon in a playoff Sunday to win the Oregon Golf Association Men's Stroke Play Championship at Emerald Valley Golf Club.
Incorporated alongside the scratch 36-hole stroke play competition for players off a handicap of nine or less, was the stroke play for juniors qualifying to play in the main competition and an 18-hole scratch competition for players between 10 and 15 handicap.
Wales' first disappointment came at the end of the first two days of stroke play qualifying when they were 10th in the aggregate team scores, finishing just two shots behind Finland, who took the eighth and last place in the top flight .
