Illouz, (1) from France, is credited with creating the technique of blunt tip cannula suction lipectomy, and by 1982 presented a series of 3 000 liposuction cases describing the 'wet technique', where the subcutaneous fat is infiltrated with a fluid solution to cause a hydrotomy effect and enhance the suction of the fat.
Suction-assisted lipectomy also known as liposuction, fat suction, or suction lipectomy is a technique to remove unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body, including the chin, neck, and cheeks; the upper arms and above the breasts; the abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs, and the knees, calves, and ankles.
It is also called lipoplasty, suction lipectomy, liposculpture or fat suction.
