Using maggots in a swimfeeder, Alan Ellison from Whitby caught 18 rainbows in a five-hour session.
His method of fishing paste baits with a swimfeeder at peg 36 by the car park put 30lb of bream and carp in his net to beat Cardiff's Steve Shaw with 19lb 12oz and Newport angler John Mack, who was third with 19lb 6oz.
Both ends of the dam wall were on top form with bait anglers ledgering Powerbait eggs and worm having the best results although swimfeeders with maggots were also very successful.
