Combining the gasification process with Rentech's unique application of proven syngas conditioning and clean-up technology and the patented Rentech Process based on Fischer-Tropsch chemistry, Rentech offers an integrated solution for production of synthetic fuels from biomass.
The best way to make methanol is by steam reforming methane, produced from syngas - a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide - which can be made via the Fischer-Tropsch process.
Gasification turns carbon-based feedstocks into synthesis gas, or syngas, which primarily is made up (more than 85% by volume) of carbon monoxide and hydrogen and smaller quantities of carbon dioxide and methane.
