Name Jonathan Edwards Image Clean-living athlete Best Known For Breaking the triple jump world record Early Life Jonathan David Edwards was born on May 10 1966 in Westminster, London, and is the son of an Anglican minister.
In the under-17 age group, 15-year-old Jordan Gill (Middlesbrough AC) claimed wellearned medals in the triple jump (bronze) and long jump (silver) events.
Claire Reid (Morpeth) got the better of Gateshead's Victoria Young to win the shot putt competition by nine centimetres, while Shildon's Melissa Carr won the long jump (5:34m) to add to her silver medal in the triple jump.
