Transmissible mink encepholapathy (TME) is a food-borne transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) of ranch-raised mink; infection with a ruminant TSE has been proposed as the cause, but the precise origin of TME is unknown.
So it is with the ongoing research into transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE), a family of deadly neurological diseases, the most infamous of which are CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) in humans and BSE in cattle.
